About Purification

There are three main ways chemists purify compounds: crystallization, distillation, and chromatography. For purifications on small scale (milligrams), chromatography is most common. When working on gram scale, distillation and crystallization become realistic methods, and in fact preferred because these methods do not generate solvent and silica gel waste.
