Turner is selected as 2011 Gordon G. Hammes ACS Biochemistry Lecturer
Congratulations to Doug Turner for being selected as the 2011 Gordon G. Hammes ACS Biochemistry Lecturer, jointly sponsored by Biochemistry and the ACS Division of Biological Chemistry. This lectureship, named in honor of Gordon G. Hammes (Editor-in-Chief of Biochemistry from 1991-2004), recognizes an individual who has made a significant impact on scientific research at the interface of both chemistry and biology, particularly in the areas of biochemistry, biophysics, molecular biology, and biological chemistry. Professor Turner focuses on the forces directing nucleic acid chemistry, with particular emphasis on RNA folding. This chemistry is important for life and for design of therapeutics. Plan to attend the 2011 fall ACS National Meeting and hear Professor Turner’s presentation and celebrate the 50th anniversary of Biochemistry!
