Todd Krauss recipient of Provost's Multidisciplinary Awards

Todd Krauss is a recipient of a 2009 Provost's Multidisciplinary Award along with Co-PIs Harris Gelbard and Lukas Novotny for their research project entitled "Nanotechnological Approaches to Understanding Alzheimer’s Disease." Brad Nilsson will serve as a consultant on this project also.

Six research projects at the University have been selected as recipients of the second annual Provost's Multidisciplinary Awards. In 2007, President Seligman established this initiative, providing $250,000 each year to support faculty research that crosses disciplines, either within one or across two or more schools.

In 2008, Chemistry faculty, Doug Turner and Lewis Rothberg were also among recipients of the Provost's Multidisciplinary Awards for their projects "Studies of RNA Strand Invasion Using Gold Nanoparticle Hybridization Assays" and "Mechanistic Studies of G-Protein Rearrangements Using Single Molecule Fluorescence Resonance Energy Transfer."

Provost Ralph Kuncl invites the University community to attend the Provost's Multidisciplinary Awards Symposium at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 22, in Hoyt Auditorium. The six 2008 awardees will describe the results of their yearlong cross-disciplinary research covering a wide array of topics. A reception celebrating the 2008 and 2009 winners will follow.
