Clifford Kubiak UR PhD '80 was honored at 2009 CommencemenChemistry alumnus, Clifford Kubiak, Ph.D. '80 will be honored with the Rochester Distinguished Scholar Award by the University during Commencement 2009.
The award will be conferred at the doctoral graduation ceremony on Saturday, May 16 at the Eastman Theater. The ceremony begins at 9:30 am and all are invited to attend.
Cliff Kubiak is currently the Harold C. Urey Distinguished Professor in the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at the University of California, San Diego. While at Rochester in the late seventies, was a doctoral student under the direction of Richard Eisenberg. With this award, he is recognized for his brilliant record, now spanning almost 30 years of research, education, and service in chemistry. Kubiak’s research centers on the chemistry of energy conversion, catalysis, electron transfer, and molecular nanotechnology.
