Nanotechnology is a rapidly growing field, with considerable potential to impact the practice of medicine in diverse ways.
While several basic science research groups at the University of Rochester Medical Center and River Campus have individually built strong research programs in nanotechnology, as yet there is little coordinated effort between these basic science groups and physicians and clinical researchers in the application of nanotechnology to important problems in patient health.
The Frontiers in Biomedical Nanotechnology Symposium will help foster such collaborative efforts in two primary ways. First, the symposium will bring physicians, clinical researchers, and basic science researchers together for a day of concentrated interaction. Second, by featuring six lectures by internationally recognized experts in nanotechnology (four from the University of Rochester and two from outside institutions), the symposium will provide an education in the current state of the art and possibilities presented by nanotechnology.
